Flemingsburg was founded in 1797 on land freely given by George S. Stockton, whom had explored the area as one of the first settlers to come into this beautiful country. He built a cabin and later a fortified station at a large spring which emerged from a limestone outcropping directly on the Warrior’s Path.
That spring still runs cool and clear as it has for countless time, a vital resource for both the animals that initially established the path and the peoples that traveled it down through the millenia.
Today Flemingsburg and Fleming County are proud to celebrate its unique history and welcomes others to come experience all that it has to offer. Perhaps one of the most notable attractions are its three surviving covered bridges. The Covered Bridge Museum in Flemingsburg has a large collection of historical memorabilia that highlights many interesting facets of our rich history.
